New York City restaurateurs Pietro and Kelly Molendini took over the classic St. James farmhouse turned restaurant. The former co-owners of Vite Vinosteria in Astoria, Queens, who had moved from the city to Centerport, spent the summer renovating the dining room to a modern, clean look with neutral tones and contemporary artwork from Pietro Molendini's native Rome. They also expanded the bar from about four to 11 seats.Pietro Molendini has spent 30 years in the food industry, with a decade of that at Cipriani and stints at both Bar Pitti and Da Silvano. Along the way, he met chef Fabian Garcia Manca, who eventually headed the kitchen at Vito Vinosteria and now joins the Molendini’s in St. James. Food and service was great. Nice lively atmosphere great for a night out with friends and family. Gluten Free items marked on menu. Server was knowledgeable of Gluten Free and cross contamination. I have celiac and didn’t have any issues with eating the food.

Our waiter John was fabulous! The staff member(didn’t get his name) that prepared our cowboy ribeye was amazing! We really had a fun evening! The staff is super courteous without being overbearing! We never felt rushed like in some restaurants on a Saturday night! This is our go to for special occasions and the 2 birthdays celebrated were happy!

Our waiter, Michael , was very helpful in guiding us to our cocktail choices and explaining the menu. The tuna tartare was very fresh and abundant. The kettle chips were crispy and a great compliment to the tuna. The halibut was perfectly cooked, and tasted delightful with the mushrooms, shrimp, fingerling potatoes dressed in a lobster sauce. The pumpkin cocktail evoked the spirit of autumn. The bread pudding was elevated with blueberries and vanilla bean ice cream. All but the cocktail was part of the prix fixe menu. Fine dining at a fine price
