Showcasing their rich bounty of produce and fish in a modern and convivial setting, Chef Brian Bladfält Landry presents a seasonally inspired menu enhanced with the bold flavors across a variety of the region’s cultures. With distinct menus offered across brunch, lunch and dinner, the dining concept focuses on four sections of small plated dishes – sea, land, garden and table – all meant to be shared. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast and lunch, as well as dinner from Monday through Saturday and brunch on weekends.

Visited The Monocle for the first time since going there while in college fifty years ago. I was in DC for work near the Capitol and had to make a pilgrimage to this landmark watering hole. It didn’t disappoint. There was the junior senator from my home state dining with her husband. The decor is cheerier than I remember, team serving means you’re never ignored, and the jumbo crab cake was perfect. Maitre D Nick has been there about as long and knows everyone.

Cranes does not disappoint! Extremely well prepared and beautifully presented, the tapas dishes were fresh and provided exotic flavor combos. The dishes tend to be fairly heavy despite the small plate size because many of the dishes are fried and my only wish is that there were more variety of veggies available.
