   The food was great - very tasty and wide variety. The service was below the average for the cost. The staff was nice but it was clear that they were short staffed and not trained properly. My server came around the table for the first time after us being seated in our seats for good 10 min. But he was super nice though

   I love Notch8 - I am a regular attendee at their themed afternoon teas. This time I come with 2 friends for Sunday brunch. The service was great - it’s unfortunate though that one guest had recently been in hospital and wanted to order the afternoon tea instead. This was not possible - we were told that because we were not in the separate room we couldn’t order it for her. While I understand that if those around us saw the tiered plates etc they might also want some, I suggested that they bring the selection on regular plates so we could be discrete. Sadly they would not let us do this. I was disappointed as this was the first outing for my friend since her surgery -

   Coming to Notch8 for the omg cake and drinks is a tradition amongst me and my best friends. Every year when we get together for a weekend we will end one of the nights at Notch 8. The ambiance is always great on Saturdays with live music. Our server was friendly and checked in on us. Drinks were excellent as expected. We do find the OMG cake was better the first few times. There used to be a stronger Ferrero rocher/hazelnut crunchy part. This nutty crunch seems to be less and less each year.

   My friend and I had lovely salads for lunch that were served by a very friendly server. We lingered for a long time and felt that we were not rushed or pressured to leave. Also had breakfast here; great food and service.

   The food was freshly made but lacked flavor. The chicken schnitzel was dry and flavorless. The pork chops were fresh but again lacked flavor- they added a lot of fancy things but all that did was complicate the situation. The area was much too noisy for what I would expect from an upscale dining experience.

   We made a reservation for happy hour and everything started off really well with a female server (Carly) being very kind and friendly, but a different male server (Pedro) took over and it was almost as though he did not want to serve our table? He would come up behind us and peer over our shoulders and then dart away without asking if we needed anything? This happened throughout the entire experience and it was very uncomfortable trying to get his attention. We had to flag down three separate people for help with water, new drinks, clearing our table and even the bill. He was so awkward and quite frankly a bit rude that it completely detracted from our experience which was unfortunate because it was such a lovely space and we were excited to be there. Our table was not cleared, no new drinks offered, one water at the table filled at a time? Either the section for this server was too big or he had just outright decided he didn’t like our table? A manager must’ve have spoken to him at one point because he came up and said “what dessert do you want?” While we were still eating and we had not asked for dessert so I am unsure if this was an attempt at a free dessert for the bad service but again it was uncomfortable and a bit rude; in the end we received no dessert, no apologies and nothing taken of our bill.

   Very disappointing buffet offering, especially for the price per person. If the service is not going to be offered long enough to comfortably enjoy it, then a 1:15pm time slot should never be offered. Will never recommend it or partake again. Shame on you Fairmont. I am embarrassed having taken my family there for a special occasion.
