The Nicollet Island Inn has stood witness to over a century of change on the shores of the Mississippi River.     My wife and I loved the food, ambience, and service. The prices are on the high side but that is expected for this level of food/experience - we were celebrating an anniversary so it was a special occasion. Having said that, the food/drinks/service were as good as we have ever had. My wife rates the steak as the best she has ever had (filet) and I'd say it is definitely up there but we did eat at PS Steak a few months ago and I thought that was better but that is also another notch up in price. We have eaten at many top notch steak places - but the point is the steak was super awesome - perfect cook and seasoning. And it was $60 for 8 oz with asparagus and mashed potatoes and a sauce (I believe there were some mushrooms too!). I really enjoyed the tandoori chicken breast that I had. Nothing crazy special but it was excellent for $30. Then there were also the drinks - great variety and very delicious. The lemon drop my wife had was awesome - she gets them everywhere and they definitely vary. She likes them sweet (doesn't like when they are a "burner"). This was sweet with some body to it and a hint of vanilla - I really liked it as well. I had a mezcal/aperol concoction that I enjoyed. Drinks I think were $15 each which is pricey but, again, that is pretty common now and they were excellent. We ended with chocolate mousse that was delicious. The service was attentive, helpful, and quick. It was a slow Thursday night (Bridgerton candle light concert afterwards). In any case, we will be back for sure (and will be recommending to others)!

    Sat in the bar area. Bar tender was also our wait staff. He made some great drink suggestions and engaged with us on and off throughout our time there. Everything about the place was top notch!

    This is a perfect spot for a leisurely luncheon with long conversation. Nearly all the tables have great views. The cocktail list is creative, try the Black Manhattan.

    We love the Inn! We've never had a mediocre meal there. But last night, we walked over in the snow for Lobster Fest, and it was amazing! Although diners wouldn't know it if not relevant to one's diet, each of the 4 courses was gluten-free! Truly, delicious gluten-free food is so appreciated. Last night was wonderful---food, service, friendly staff, and a beautiful view of the snow. Thanks!

    Service started a bit slow but was fine, as we were not in any kind of hurry. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. The only comment was the app selection was a bit fish/seafood heavy. The apps we did order were good-deviled eggs, bread service and cheese plate. Two of us ordered our steaks very rare/rare and they were more rare to medium rare, but were still delicious. I did ask for them to omit the asparagus from my order and feel they should have offered me more carrots or something to compensate. Overall, the atmosphere and food were good, we had a lovely evening.

    One of the best places that we have dined in on New Years Eve. Tables are not crowded together, view of the city incredible, good food, great service. Worth every penny
