The bread, the rigatoni, the lemon pizza, and don't skip the tiramisu. Our waiter was excellent, attentive and funny, with excellent recommendations. Discover High Country
While traversing western North Carolina, an area brimming with mountainous landscapes, waterfalls, forests, lakes and rivers, explorers need to stop now and again for some relaxation and nourishment. Fortunately, the High Country area offers up a range of delicious options served in beautiful restaurants and settings. The types of cuisine available tend toward American and Italian, although other options like seafood and comfort food are definitely also close at hand. The flavors in the local restaurants are as lovely as the surrounding landscape. Towns in the region that offer great restaurant options include Blowing Rock, Hendersonville and Boone. And of course Asheville, a smaller city that's big on acclaimed restaurants and healthy options, is not far at all.
