Discover New Iberia
Deep in the marsh of southern Louisiana is New Iberia, often called "The Queen of the Teche." The rich Spanish and French heritage of the area is evident in the way they influence the local cuisine. Fresh Gulf seafood is famously prepared in the region’s traditional Cajun and Creole style. In New Iberia, it is not unusual to order fried alligator, and crawfish is a springtime favorite as well. Walk along New Iberia's tree-lined Main Street, where you will find New Orleans-style po' boys and the quintessential southern Louisiana deep-fried pastry, the beignet. Served hot and sprinkled with powdered sugar, they soothe an aching sweet tooth any time of the day.
