Discover El Gòtic
As the name implies, the Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of Barcelona and sits at the center the city. It features lots of Roman and Medieval-style architecture, including narrow winding streets—in maze-like formations—lined with intriguing bars, nightclubs, and Catalan eateries. Most of the area is only open to foot traffic (and occasional taxis), which lends itself to meandering down La Rambla, the famous tree-lined avenue filled with street-eats, flower stands, and hand-made goods. While there’s plenty to look at all around this quarter, you won’t want to miss the Cathedral of Barcelona for its stunning construction or the Museu d'Història de Barcelona to get a better glimpse at remains of the Roman city.
