Napa Valley Bistro was opened in 2013 by chefs Bernardo Ayala and Ernesto Martinez, (also co-owner of Market in St. Helena). Their friendship and working relationship, which has lasted over 20 years was so successful, they decided to pool their resources and stake a claim in downtown Napa's expanding culinary scene. Their aim was to create their own version of classic world cuisine in a comfortable space where family and community could gather for any occasion. The twist is evident in the menus, which sample fare from around the globe. Guests can choose from traditionally prepared Mexican Empanadas or timeless American favorites like the Lamb Burger and St. Louis Ribs. Other options include Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Chinese Chicken Salad and Seasonal Risotto. Our Wine & Beer List includes local wines leaning toward small producers & craft brews.

Had a nice time at their Winemaker's Dinner with Joel Gott Winery! The winemaker that hosted was very personal and always made sure everyone's glasses were full! Food was exceptionally prepared and hot and fresh. Definitely a local gem!

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant we started with the veggie garden fries. These were the best I have ever eaten in my life!! Then I had Pan seared sea scallops🤯 they were mind blowing amazing this restaurant’s food I think was the best I had the whole time I was in Napa!! I can’t say enough about it. I will definitely go back and recommend to anyone I know who is going. I loved it so much. I asked to see the chef just to hug his neck and I did

Food was excellent, loved the gnocchi’s, different spin on an Italian dish. Flat iron steak was also very good with the tomato jam.

Great local restaurant. Menu has alot of different dishes to offer! I had the short ribs with gnocchi in a tomato based sauce The short ribs were delicious, soft and no bone. But the sauce was greasy since they cooked the ribs in the vegetable tomato sauce. My husband had the seafood fettuccine which was excellent with a large variety of seafood including crab, mussels, & scallops. I had a glass of Ballentine Zinfandel and it was the best and at a great value!. We had a 5:15 reservation and we enjoyed the early seating since it was noisy. Service was great. We will return again soon.

Napa Valley Bistro is usually overlooked by tourists (despite being within a short walk to Napa's 1st St.) but is beloved of locals, deservedly so. This is a casual, welcoming restaurant where families and groups come to have excellent food, great service, and a cheerful good time. The salads are terrific, and the sauces - especially for the pastas - are exquisite, as good as anything we receive from upscale kitchens. Other "do not miss" dishes: the Veggie Garden Fries (will make you forget any tempura mixed veggies elsewhere), the risotto (especially with the optional hanger steak), any soup du jour or fish dish. The Mexican Chocolate ice cream is excellent, too.

Great place to eat for brunch, lunch, dinner or dessert. Comfort foods with flair, and Light bites galore. Special occasions or even a casual date are my favorite times to visit. A bit pricey $$, however I've never been let down by chef Bernardo's flavorful seasonal menus. Soju is used in most cocktails offered. (* Note, full liquor/ spirits bar is Not available ). Good wine list , good bottle beers, and only a few beers on tap are available. Brunch menu offers bottomless mimosas! Lovely staff, and a calming ambient dining room. Outdoor seating is available usually as well. Bon appetite!

The Bistro is a real Gem that I don’t believe has been fully discovered. It’s a real sleeper. Wonderful food, creative menu, overall excellent restaurant.
