The award winning venue is located just off the historic Royal Mile and combines chic cocktail bar with intimate restaurant.     I had Dover sole, quite small and a touch over cooked which meant drier than it should be. Cheese soufflé was delicious. Lemon posset with raspberry sorbet, raspberry was star of the show with not much lemon flavour in the posset. Spilt our wine - one of those things(?!). Service charge of 12.5%. Service was personal but once our food on the table we had to keep trying to attract attention, not much attention. So, not worth 12.5% at all. Great welcome and attentive on our arrival. However, we felt the service and attention deteriorated as time progressed . To finish on a positive note, the music playing was great and staff friendly.

    I love this place. The food was excellent again. The cocktails are fab. It’s like a little oasis. A great space to meet folk.

    Good location. All food was good with a varied menu. Staff were attentive and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is good. I only downgraded the ambiance as we evidently visited on a quiet lunchtime. I’m sure there is a better vibe when busy. I would certainly return.

    Excellent food and service, I’m all for creating ambience but the bar area is so dark you can’t read the menu or see your plate and this lets the overall experience down,

    What a place! Great atmosphere, decor, friendly welcoming service, but above all the food was to die for. I had Pork Belly for main which was one of the best main meals I’ve had in a very long time. I’ve been recommending it since and will continue to do so for those visiting Edinburgh. I shall be back.

    A very enjoyable evening. The food was delicious, service good and friendly atmosphere. We have been to Monteiths before, but have not been able to for a few years. So glad to see that everything is as good as it has always been.

    Another fabulous meal at Monteith's, busy for a Friday lunchtime but the service was excellent, the food superb and overall everything was excellent.
