   The Mission Inn Festival of Lights is so wonderful. We are glad that we had a reservation for dinner because you were not permitted to enter the building unless you showed proof of reservation or room key. Tight security. Lots of people ambling about looking at the lights, kiddos riding on the Ferris wheel and carousel. The place exudes christmas magic. The food is adequate at best. Service was attentive. Decent wine and cocktail list. We went for the atmosphere and were not disappointed.

   absolutely gorgeous place and good service ❤️. Such a cozy nice historical hotel and the outdoor area of this restaurant was marvelous!! we celebrated our 15 years anniversary and the ambiance was perfect for us! beautiful semi-European aura !!

   We actually made a reservation even there would be a $25 Per person charge for no shows if you didn’t cancel 48 hours in advance. It turned out there was almost no one there at 1:00 the day after Christmas. The server was very nice and took our order promptly. The drinks arrived in just a few minutes but after waiting 40 minutes for the food I asked the hostess, who was obviously unhappy with her job, to please check on our order. She came back and said they were working on it and it would arrive in five or ten minutes. It was not a complicated order. A couple of sandwiches and a pasta dish. The food finally arrived and it was all subpar and very expensive. The pasta was just a basic red sauce with Italian sausage and the roast beef for the French dip was cold. We had come to town for the Cheech Marin museum, which was wonderful, and were treating ourself to what we hoped would be a lovely lunch. We will be back for the museum, but will definitely skip this restaurant

   Took our mom as a Christmas gift. They wouldn't let us sit in the pretty courtyard. Put us inside by a door that was open. It was freezing. It was like sitting outside with no heater. Daughter's glass had a layer of dust and black dirt on the rim. Ordered the shrimp and pasta. So did my brother in-law. It was bland. Tasted like butter and noodles. Not worth the money for no flavor. Other family members ordered the burgers and they were not good either. Drove a hour to eat in a beautiful Christmas courtyard only to be put in the cold plain restaurant with dirty glasses and bland over priced food.

   I wanted to love this but …. Honestly the buffet was really mediocre. Our reservation was at 7:00 pm and the buffet was very tired and picked over. The poor wait staff looked exhausted. They kept running out of desserts …. The salads were really paltry. The bathroom lines were ridiculously long. Glad we did it but cannot recommend for the very expensive price.

   This will be my last Christmas dinner at The Mission Inn. Actually, it will be my last time there, period. We were never informed that the only thing available was a buffet until after our arrival, which left us with no other alternative plan for dinner. The food was pricey ($80 for adults and $40 for kids, plus a 20% added gratuity) considering the poor quality (picture Swansons chicken fingers and Celeste pizza). To top the disappointing evening off, there was no Santa to be found in the lobby the entire night. This place has progressively gone down for years, and has been subpar for a good 15 years, but it's now officially a terrible tourist trap.

   Our experience at the Mission Inn restaurant last night was fantastic!! My husband and I took our kids, moms & siblings for dinner and it was perfect!!! It was a huge relief because we took 16 of our friends to Las Campanas at the beginning of December and the experience was a HUGE disappointment.

   First time we have been here, and I’m disappointed. They need many more waitstaff especially during the holidays. The bussers were running their tails off. Food was ok, decor was amazing. Our wait person finally came to our table after we had been seated for 20-25 minutes. We ordered immediately and then waited another 25-30 minutes for the food. She came 3 times: to take our order, refill drinks, and bring our check. Probably won’t return.

    For the amount paid, the food was not up to the standard it should be. This is NOT the place it used to be.
