I’ve stayed at the Surf Jack before and dined at Mahina & Suns while there (and loved it). Tonight, sadly was a miss. First, I have to say that the bartender and owner are awesome. The cocktails were great. Food: The kale salad was under seasoned. The rib eye was tough and the sauce tasted like ketchup. I didn’t finish either. In terms of ambience, there was a huge table of screechy 20-sthg girls that was more than distracting. (Ironically, the hotel was getting ready to have a silent disco that night.) They kindly comp’d a drink but I def feel I overpaid for what I “got” tonight. I’m not saying don’t go. More, approach with caution. The hotel itself is amazing.

Food was ok—very small portions. Service was slow. I wouldn’t go back.

My husband and I came to Mahina and Sun's last year four times, with and without other guests. We love the local vibe (dog friendly), the decor, the live music, intimate feel and the food! We shared the Ahi spread for an app. Very nice portion. Delicious. I had the risotto with roasted mushrooms and fennel sausage. Not a huge meat eater so the small pieces of sausage kept the risotto very delicate. Wine list is limited, however, the champagne choice was very good and my one class of red was actually excellent. (I work at a winery in Napa.) Of course we'll see you again this trip!

Love this restaurant. Hawaii meets Palm Springs vibe. Very old school. Food is fusion and super creative. Highly recommend. Went twice during our vacation. Was here last year too.

Mahina and Sun’s is a hidden gem in the Waikiki area. The food and service are always fantastic. The chill vibe of the restaurant along with the live music make it a favorite local place.

We visited Mahina and Suns on Thanksgiving. Overall, we enjoyed our evening. Service was a bit slow as kitchen was backed up, but live music was entertaining while we waited. Our Mahi Mahi and Pork Chop was excellent. Pizza was okay. The highlight for us all was the fantastic banana pudding. It was delicious!
