Staff at check-in was disengaged and unhelpful. When making a reservation, the system specifically asked if I wanted to sit outside, inside, or at a high top (a.k.a., in the bar area). I asked for an inside table. When I checked in (about five minutes before the reservation time), I was asked to wait about 10 minutes and then led to an outside table. When I explained that I had made a reservation for an inside table, I was taken back to the front and asked to wait while they found another table (what happened to my original table). I was then told the only table available was a high top in the bar area right next to the door leading outside. This was a business dinner with a client and we were left with the option of sitting outside (too cold) or in the very loud bar area. Neither was ideal for a business dinner, but because this was business, I couldn't complain too much or look for another option. We had a mediocre meal next to a cold door with incredible noise around us so that I had to keep asking my client what they said. This is a strong recommendation to go to one of the numerous other restaurant options in the area.

Walked in to Lou & Mickeys and the Hostess greeted right away and led us to our table. Busier night then usual since there is an Oncologist Convention in town. The noise level was higher then normal. The ambiance here is amazing. Reminds me of one of those old school NYC steakhouses. For appetizers we ordered Butchers Bread and Teriyaki Filet Mignon Tips which both were amazing!! For entrees Twin wild south African Lobster tails , Blackened New York steak and regular new York steak. Sides we went with Loaded baked potatoe and Garlic Mash Potatoes. The steaks and Lobster tails were great. Steak cooked and seasoned perfect. Wife loved the Lobster tails. The sides on the other hand were disappointing. The Mash potatoes tasted like the stuff sold at grocery stores in a box. The baked potato was ok. Our waiter Dre was outstanding. Consistently checking in. Overall I would recommend it if you are in the gaslamp quarter.

Had a choice between two steakhouses within walking distance of hotel. One had 5 stars and no availability on OpenTable until much later, Lou&Mickeys had 4.5 stars and all time slots were available. This is an example of where you can’t trust the ratings - trust the availability? Butcher’s block bread app was excellent. Everything else was less than adequate. One of my three oysters was a bad one. A medium-rare 12oz filet which seemed no bigger than 8oz had no seasoning and was overdone. Bearnaise sauce was cold and had started to coagulate. My boss’s $58 macadamia-crusted halibut was overdone. French fries must have sat in the window for 20min, and when they were sent back and a fresh batch arrived, they were undercooked. 1/2 carafe of Saldo Zinfandel seemed as if the bottle had been open for a while. Server was sweet and attentive, though. If the ratings are believable, they just must have had a really really bad night in the kitchen.

Food was good. Bread was delicious and steaks done perfectly. Only downside was the service - very (very) slow. We went in a night when it was not busy and we didn’t get entrees for 90 minutes. Would have left under normal circumstances but was with a group of work colleagues. Staff was nice but didn’t comp anything for making us wait - would have appreciated that gesture at the minimum.

We had a great time being our first time. We had a party of nine and celebrated four birthdays. The place looks really nice and was festively decorated for the Holidays. First of all I loved that we were sat at a round table it made conversation with everyone a lot easier. Frederick, our server was very welcoming and thoroughly answered all our questions. Their lunch menu has good variety and we liked that we were also able to order from the dinner menu. The food was great! I specially liked the crab cake and the caramelized apple tart w/vanilla ice cream. My son devoured two orders of calamari! Most of us ordered steak which all tasted great and the portions are very generous. My daughter ordered the cheeseburger and she was a little disappointed so stick to the steak and seafood. One of us ordered the seafood tower and it was beautifully presented and a nice variety for the price. The real roper for me was when all four of us birthday celebrants got to choose a complimentary dessert and lighted with a candle! I thought that was really nice and thoughtful. I will definitely recommend this place and will be part of our SD dining list.

If you stop by get a reservation and ask for Kimberly as your wait staff. Her personality and attention to detail was impeccable. I would come back for the oysters and the service alone.
