Always a great time - excellent service, food and ambiance. Their newest dessert - profiteroles with truffle ice cream is fantastic!

Europeans are better at holding quiet conversations at close tables. Americans are loud and speak over each other rather than under the loudest voice. At LeBouchon the tables are smashed into a small space, the table next to yours must be a mere 5 or 6" away, or rather, close. Wait staff turns sideways to walk between tables. The staff seemed stressed out at how busy it can get. There is barely room to rise from the table to leave without inconveniencing others at the near table. Good food and good companionship deserve more.

Had a great winter lunch with onion soup, a glass of wine, and a nice desert. Service was excellent. Always a go to place for a good French dining experience.

Very loud, cold, and my chair was bashed more than 20 times by staff members. Don’t go for the ambiance. Rabbit stew, pate, and French bread were all delicious

As always the food doesn’t disappoint. The service did. We were greeted by one service person —“ I’ll take care of you”—who disappeared then: no explanation till we asked another passing server, who had taken over our table it seems. Maybe the place was short staffed, but we had to grab a server passing by rapidly each time we needed something: drinks, dessert, water. And despite making a reservation 6 weeks in advance we had a table by the cold door.. It’s a marvelous place—most of the time. Not last night.

French Bistro doesn’t get any more authentic in Chicago than Le Bouchon, which maintains its excellence in the tradition of Jean-Claude. Service is quintessentially Chicagoan in professionalism and personality, while lacking in the typical French diffidence. Can’t misses: steak frites or moules et frites, tarte à l’oignon or crôque madame. Specials are spéciales and a late lunch can make the rest of your day.
