We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

    Awesome evening. Incredible food including possibly the best steak ever….🤔 I eat steak anywhere and everywhere around the world and i honestly believe this really was best ever.     Every dish is fantastic. Choose what you fancy, and it will be amazing. Cyrus often cooks them himself, and this is a celebrity chef restaurant where the person himself is doing the work and is happy to chat. It is a bonus that it's very reasonably priced. We had a selection of starters and mains; it's some of the best Indian food I've ever had, and I've been to India plenty of times. GO AND EAT HERE! It's much closer than it looks, thank you, Elizabeth line. Put it into City Mapper, and you will be there in a Jiffy. I loved the place on Prescot Street, and this is an even brighter, more modern space.

    We visited with our baby to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our waiter went above and beyond to give us a memorable experience, and was incredibly accommodating to meet all of our needs. His knowledge of the menu, and recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious, service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble. Service from entry to leaving was wonderful from every member of staff we encountered.
