Restaurants near Thoms House

This was a wonderful dining experience. Sat outside on covered and heated upstairs patio and was perfectly comfortable on a chilly 40f evening. Service was impeccable and Kristian B our waiter added to our enjoyment of the evening. Started with cocktails and Tuna Tartare - so delicious-would go back just for that. Perfectly cooked medium rare filet with blue cheese crust and fresh grouper with lobster gnocchi in a light lemon sauce were divine. Couldn't have had a better experience for our first night dining in Sarasota.

Great surf and turf. They kept the butter heated. Service was great. We all truly enjoyed the whole experience

Kudos to the cheerful wait staff, superb chefs and solid management at Columbia in Sarasota's St. Armand's Circle. You'd never know this reliably terrific restaurant was under five feet of water after last fall's double punch hurricanes! The bartenders don't stint on the pours and the paella was the best I've ever eaten--big enough for two--making it one of the most economical items on the extensive menu.

Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. The only disappointment was the spinach salad. In the past it was an excellent salad. Something was different about it making it very average. But overall the food is always very good. Prices are very high but that seems to be the case at all restaurants.
