Amazing new find! If there were boxes, this restaurant checked all of them. From when you first enter - the smell, set up, the staff, everything was great. Then you get to the food and it did not disappoint. The presentation, flavor and taste was enjoyed by all. This is a place I would definitely return to and recommend. Pics would not do it justice. Experience it for yourself. My only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner.

Good menu variety excellent tastes and flavors. Beer and wine selection is not lacking. A few vegetarian items but they will make changes to accomodate.

I was traveling by myself and it was perfect. The pizza was great but the lentil soup was AMAZING! Service was impeccable.

We are are fortunate to have Matera in our neighborhood, It is a small restaurant in the River Inn, close to the Kennedy Center and the Foggy Bottom-GWU, Metro, with excellent food at reasonable prices and excellent service. The menu leans to Italian cuisine but there are choices for those who prefer "American" food; the NY strip steak is outstanding and the tiramisu is the best we have ever eaten. The wine pours are generous. In our experience, the cooking, service and the wine selection has been pleasingly consistent.

The entire high tea experience was perfect and ideal. Everything was perfect! The foods outstanding. The tea selection was so many it was hard to choose from. We each were satisfied with our selections and recommendations from our server. It was a wonderful afternoon and I would highly recommend this for a special afternoon with friends and family. Plus they have a no cell phone use policy. It was nice quiet conversations, exactly how dining out should be. Thank you to everyone who made our cold afternoon a delight.
