The inn is located in the 'chocolate box' village of Wiswell, near Clitheroe, in the picturesque Ribble Valley.Since our transformation and reopening in the summer of 2009, we have created a loyal clientele and a genuine home-from-home atmosphere. Flag stone floors, walls in muted heritage colours, antique rugs and furniture, period paintings and prints all unite to create a stylish and comfortable setting. Our bar has an excellent selection of traditional cask conditioned ales from award-winning independent breweries and is complemented by a superb cellar with over 250 wines from around the world.While the surroundings and welcome are inviting, the main reason to visit is, of course, our food.

Blacklock is a modern take of the Great British chophouse nestled in the corner of a Grade II listed textiles warehouse. We take the best meat in the country from the award-winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails from the trolley and wine on tap in our subterranean chop mecca. On Sundays we serve a Roast almost as good as Mum's. We have limited spaces for Walk-ins, so we encourage booking in advance to avoid disappointment during busy times. Really enjoyed our delicious food, I had the soufflé, which was soo tasty and then the sea bass which was full of flavour, I was so full I couldn’t manage a sweet. The staff looked after us and the bar area where we were sat was lovely and warm next to the fire, very cosy, especially with all the Christmas lights.

2nd time we have been for lunch and it was exceptional each time. Definitely our kind of dining, everything about ‘Eight’ is superb. The food is fresh, tasteful and so very well presented. There definitely will be more than a 3rd visit for us! Added bonus is looking at the beautiful animals

Great place, staff attentive and friendly. Very classy decor. Food was to a very high standard, though I do think charging an extra £7 to only receive 3 prawns on my curry was a bit excessive.
