The Dining Room at Sun Mountain Lodge provides brunch and dinner in an upscale-casual atmosphere for both hotel guests and outside diners alike, while the Bar & Grill provides a relaxed first-come-first-served atmosphere for afternoon bites and dinner. Our menus are inspired by the Methow Valley, consisting of locally sourced meats and produce with select seasonal rotations. Brunch is served in the dining room from our incredible a-la cart menu from 7:30am until 12:30pm. Our inspiration for the name of our new signature restaurant comes from a chaptik story passed down through the generations of our First Nations people of the Okanagan.The Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation approach to food is based on the creation stories of their culture and we’ve taken their stories as the inspiration for the name of our restaurant: “The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry,” based on the story of the Four Food Chiefs.The Four Food Chiefs are central: Skimxist Black Bear (chief of animals, representing self-sacrifice, leadership, giving), Ntytikxw Chinook Salmon (water creatures, perseverance, hard work), Speetlum Bitterroot (plants below the round, relationships to the land) and Seeya Saskatoon Berry (plants above ground, growth, strength, community) are legendary and the elements of indigenous cuisine.

    We had a very lovely quite dinner. The service was great from beginning to end. The food was also brought out very quickly (although the restaurant was not very busy). The food was very good, and I would go so far as to say fantastic. I was pleased to see they offered vegan and vegetarian options. I had the mushroom flatbread, and it was super tasty, with crisp crust but soft on inside bread. The dessert of flowerless chocolate cake was far better than most I have had.

    This is an exceptional restaurant located in a beautiful lodge-setting reminiscent of the Dutton ranch in the series “Yellowstone”. The ambiance and attentiveness from the staff set the mood for what has been one of the best food experiences in the Methow Valley. The menu items from start to finish exceeded all our expectations. The absolutely delicious gem salad and “dancing” bonito flakes in the Brussels sprout salad to the perfectly cooked elk dish which took center stage of all our dishes. It’s a dining experience not to be missed. We’ll be back again.
