Set in a 1780 Pennsylvania Stone Farmhouse with deep windows and a warm pleasant atmosphere this is a family owned and operated restaurant that is recognized as one of the Best of Lancaster for dinner, Sunday Brunch, patio dining, wine list, atmosphere and romantic settings. The Story of Josephine’sThe story of Josephine’s begins during our executive chef Daniel LeBoon’s childhood. At eight years old, working for his father’s catering company, Daniel discovered a passion for food. This love — and undeniable talent — saw him intern at Philadelphia’s prestigious Le Bec-Fin. He went on to work in Paris at the venerable Hotel Vernet working under the renowned chef’s Alain Solvere and Alain Ducasse. In 2004, Daniel purchased Josephine’s in Marietta and developed an extremely loyal following based on the combination of great food, great atmosphere and great hospitality. Although Josephine’s closed in 2011, the name and the experiences are fondly remembered by countless people.

It’s worth a trip to Lancaster just to have dinner at Osteria Avanti . The dinning room is fairly small with an intimate feel. There is also a separate bar area which also serves food. The dishes are well prepared. The vegetables and meat are excellent and well prepared. The service is exceptional, attentive without being intrusive. I would highly recommend Osteria Avanti.
