In 1962, Johnny Harlowe made the jump from the silver screen to chef and owner of Dear John’s. Convinced by his pal Frank Sinatra, Johnny opened the iconic spot just a ways down from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd. It became the watering-hole for the Hollywood elite with Sinatra often in the corner playing the piano against the dark brick walls once lined with portraits of famous John’s.     I was meeting two old friends I hadn’t seen for a while and we wanted a place with good food where we could converse without having to yell to be heard by each other. Simonette was right on the money. Two of us had the onion soup and the oysters while the third had the beef bourginon - All the dishes were well prepared and we enjoyed the meal.

    We had a wonderful dinner (business meeting). Fortunately, we were able to get a table in the back as the noise in the front room was loud (ok LOUD). The food was delicious, the service was superb and the ambiance was nice. The restaurant was jammed on a Wednesday night. That in and of itself is a positive review.

    Dear John's was nice enough to fulfill my request for a corner table. That was the start of this great dining experience. The food was oustanding, as was the service and cocktails. I had the Ossobuco (special for the night) and it was absolutely delicious!! This place is such a hidden gem that makes you feel like your in NYC.
