Judith is a new American tavern pairing warm hospitality and the cooking of James Beard Nominated Chef Julia Sullivan (Henrietta Red in Nashville) located in the quiet area of Sewanee, TN near the University of the South. The name is an homage to Judith Ward Lineback, the first woman to matriculate into the University in 1969.As Sullivan’s first solo project, Judith will feature a seasonal menu of creative and approachable dishes including a selection of small, shareable plates perfect for the bar crowd. The beverage program mirrors the food with accessible wines and a cocktail list created by Henrietta Red's Beverage Manager Patrick Halloran.The warehouse-style building, previously the Old Steam Laundry which serviced the University since the 1950’s, has additional space for private dining and parties. The food was outstanding. Really, amazing. We were seated right next to the entrance, which was not ideal, yet, still a wonderful experience. Server was a little nervous at the start and not familiar with the bourbon choices. She settled in and was fine. A delightful evening.

Excellent service. Delicious food. We had Steaks, Seabass, Shrimp, Chicken, lots of wine choices, cheesecake was super yummy. Priced in the high end. Definitely recommended for the foodies out there!

I had the cauliflower tempura and it was yummy. I ate all the cabbage slaw, too :). I also indulged in a mimosa. You get a tiny bottle of Cook's to add to your orange juice!

Tha ambiance is fantastic! I love the old speak easy vibe. There's not a full food menu, just small bites/appetizers, which we knew going in. That does not detract from the ambiance and vibe of the place at all. The drinks are extremely well crafted and are worth the price (a little pricey but not unreasonable) and the short wait. Thisis my new favorite place.
