Gonzales Bistro is an upscale restaurant that makes its home near the very heart of Independence square. We are the only restaurant by the square with prime & waygu aged steaks, fresh seafood, New England oysters. The bistro offers a Wine Spectator Magazine award winning wine list, craft cocktails including house made Tiki drinks. Our reputation is based on repeat diner loyalty not marketing.Gonzales Bistro changes menus often in order to take advantage of local, seasonal products. Chef Parind's food has big flavors & is seasoned assertively, yet is nuanced, complex, and most importantly, balanced. Come join us and experience big city dining without all the hassles. Gonzales Bistro is a intimate space with an open kitchen, wood ceilings, framed by great black & white pictures from a bygone era while the charming independence square offers free parking, wide open spaces & vistas of historic buildings. Nearby parks, art galleries and shopping define the sophistication of Gonzales.

Sonya Cote, the James Beard Foundation WEL alum and Texas chef known for Eden East, now adds Store House Market & Eatery in downtown Bastrop to her portfolio.  A proponent for local purveyors and a pioneer of using locally-grown ingredients for both nutritional and environmental purposes, Cote transformed a nearly 175-year-old, historic two-building property at the corner of Main and Pine into a seasonally-driven restaurant and market that will showcase the local area’s bounty. The a la carte menu features rotating mains and sides, using ingredients sourced from Eden East Farm and other Bastrop producers.

Since 1987, we have been making our vision a reality. Our family's goal is to bring a festive atmosphere and fresh flavors to the fun city of Bastrop. Our inspiration comes from the town of Chapala, one of the beautiful cities that surrounds the largest lake in Jalisco, Mexico. Our authentic cuisine originates from our family recipes from the central and coastal regions of Mexico; Mainly the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Together with our extended family and staff, we strive to create a genuine traditional Mexican experience. We offer over 200 tequilas and other agave distilled spirits. From our family to yours, buen provecho and muchas gracias. We welcome our guests with a heartfelt greeting, as we say in Mexico: “Mi casa es su casa.”

Masterpiece of a Valentine wine pairing meal . Chef has a delicate hand on a very wide range of spices creating beautiful flavors . Lamb was so fresh , so clean , and young . Thank you for your love . PS Gardens greens are perfection. Wines were wonderfully selected and opened new avenues for me .

We enjoyed the fixed Valentine’s Day menu: wedge salad, smashed oysters on a bed of shoestring fries, filet mignon with mashed potatoes and veggies, and caramel apple bread pudding for dessert. We both had red wine with our meal and the espresso martini with dessert. We sat in the bar side and it was busy but we had great service. Cool retro atmosphere, slightly noisy. Food was amazing, we shared each plate as a couple- our only wish was that maybe they could have split each course for us. (We had to agree on how to have our steak cooked.) Overall a great meal and we will be back to try their full menu!
