Our emphasis is on preparing and presenting dishes reflecting the highest culinary sophistication accompanied by wines and wine service of comparable excellence. Mushrooms are the heart of what we do at the Joel Palmer House. We have always endeavored to obtain seasonal and local ingredients and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables, some of which come from our own culinary garden. We are frequently inspired by ingredients found in the cuisines of France, China, Thailand, Poland and India, so we call our cooking "freestyle." Our dishes pair well the celebrated wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Our extensive, Oregon-focused wine list has been awarded the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. Of special note, The Joel Palmer House ranks as one of Oregon's finest historic homes and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Oregon Historic Register. Built in 1857, the house is Dayton's oldest standing structure. When weather permits, guests can enjoy their dinner on our outdoor patio, soaking in the last rays of sunshine in the heart of Oregon Wine Country.

We seek to express the incredible character of Oregon through impeccable raw materials and minimal intervention in the winery. Our Dundee Tasting Room is open Wednesday-Monday from 11am-5pm.Holiday Hours: Our Tasting Room will be closed from Monday, December 23rd to Thursday, January 2nd. Well behaved children are welcome to our tasting room, we ask that they please stay in their seat during your visit. A-maz-ing. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with friends. It was a first visit for all of us. From the cocktails to salads, breads, our pasta choices, risotto, and finally dessert, everything was delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. I appreciate the stated time allowance for diners to keep reservations on schedule. We are all looking forward to our next dining experience there.

Had to wait a bit to be served but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. It was a little noisy due to a table of fairly loud women, but all in all, a delightful experience.
