Ospi is the sophomore restaurant of Jackson & Melissa Kalb, focused on Southern Italian cooking and way of life. The name derives from ospitante (“host” in Italian), with the expectation that guests will feel as comfortable at Ospi as they would at a friend’s dinner party. There will be plenty of house-made pastas as well as an expanded offering of pizzas. The beverage program crafted by Kalb features mostly Californian and Southern Italian wines and a full bar with a special negroni section. At Ospi, the pizza is inspired by the techniques of Antico Forno Roscioli which Jackson and Melissa frequented while visiting Rome.     New Years Day and we wanted some place that we knew would be fantastic, so where else but Gjelina? It was busy but the hosts and servers were unfailingly polite. We ordered 6 things from the menu. My wife's vegan so she had the vegetable sandwich (she had to fight me for it, it was so good). Brussel sprouts, grilled fennel, and the frites were all great. My son and I split the anchovy and burrata toast - a first for me - and it's my new favorite. Finished with the excellent pomodoro pizza - no cheese and none needed, because the jammy tomato confit is the star of the dish. I love this place. It never lets me down. Happy 2025!

    Excellent well-prepared and delicious food. I've eaten there for years and it's consistently great. Expensive, but remember it's Josiah Citrin from Melisse who is the chef owner. You are going to get what you pay for there. my favs: Cabbage, chicken wings, calamari and green beans. Any of the steaks and get the fries- best in the city. Shrimp, broccolini, carrots. Duck excellent from Liberty Duck Bring some friends and share.

    We ordered the Omakase and I have to say without a doubt this was the best Sushi I have ever had. The only fish we didn't care for was the jellyfish, Otherwise the sushi was an incredible feast. I don't know how I will go to any other sushi place after having experience this wonderful dinning experience. I would recommend this place to everyone, but it is a little bit pricey.
