Even though Post is a new name for most of us, it has been an important part of South Hamilton history since 1924. The historic building at 16 Bay Rd. was home to the South Hamilton Post Office, and a place for residents to send and pick up letters. In response to the Great Depression, and a drop in the postage rate (from three cents to 2 cents), the Postmaster added more opportunities for residents to pick up their mail. At Post, which at the time was known as “the brick block building”, letters were piled on a table, and a bell was rung to let residents know that they could come and retrieve their mail. Keeping with that tradition, guests of Post will have an opportunity to “Ring the Bell”, which signifies that they have bought a beer for our hard working kitchen and waitstaff.     Great birthday dinner out to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. Warm and friendly staff; delightful sommelier with a great wine selection. Food was excellent and portions large. I especially appreciated the salad with the steak frites. Our salads were sized for 2. My husband chose not to order dessert but the kitchen still brought out an excellent cookie with HBD piped on the board and a candle. My sorbet was delicious and large enough for two. A great option whether you wish to dress up or stop in for a nosh in jeans and boots.

    Today’s visit was another exceptional day. Not only was today a special menu day with lobster rolls, but everything else on the menu was just as special. We had a couple of glasses of wine, a lovely meal and a fantastic dessert. Of course it was the Key-lime pie! The most outstanding part of the day was our waitress, Heather. She was exceptional!
