Mushrooms are the heart of what we do at the Joel Palmer House. We have always endeavored to obtain seasonal and local ingredients and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables, some of which come from our own culinary garden. We are frequently inspired by ingredients found in the cuisines of France, China, Thailand, Poland and India, so we call our cooking "freestyle." Our dishes pair well the celebrated wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Our extensive, Oregon-focused wine list has been awarded the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. Of special note, The Joel Palmer House ranks as one of Oregon's finest historic homes and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Oregon Historic Register.     Amazing service by all staff, but especially by Ellie. She was attentive and personable, checking in often to ensure all our needs were met. Her attention to detail made our special evening, my husband’s retirement celebration, even more memorable. Side note: the wood smoked cocktails (my husband chose the Flamed Orange Old Fashioned) were fascinating and delicious. I also appreciate that we could bring our own special bottle of wine and drink it with a small corkage fee.

    Enjoyed a fantastic Christmas dinner. The prime rib was tender and juicy, the potatoes Lyonnaise were flavorful, and the salad was delicious. Chef Bob even walked through the dining room, stopping at every table, to chat with folks. Great food and great service. I'll definitely be back!

    Beautiful facility and gracious, warm and friendly staff. The food was quite good if slightly expensive for the Oregon coast. $35 for corkage and $29 for 6 oysters is among the highest prices statewide. The wait staff , especially MJ was above and beyond exceptional.

    Our only complaint is the new menus being impossible to read for everyone in our party because of the tiny faint lettering. Please fix that! The old menus were perfect! Also we would love to see the mixed drink menu back again.
