Ciccino opened in November 2022 on the corner of California & Hyde Streets in Nob Hill. The restaurant’s name Ciccino is Italian for ‘little piece of meat’. The name was given to Chef Gian Marco and his siblings in honor of his late father, Angelo Cosmi (the town’s local plumber), who would eat a steak ‘ciccia' sandwich for lunch. His father’s employees would admire his daily sandwich and he soon earned the name ‘Manga Ciccia’, Italian for ‘eat meat’. Gian Marco’s father passed in 2002 and still to this day, the Cosmi siblings are known as ‘Ciccino’. Hints of copper and natural, industrial touches were intentional when Gian Marco’s wife, Lynsey Rose, designed the restaurant’s elevated and rustic interior.

Excellent service from beginning to end. Our waiter was superb. Food was heavenly as always. Always a special treat to celebrate occassions here. Disappointed though they don’t do the complimentary birthday desserts anymore. We ordered desserts but HOPR used to also do a fun little free birthday dessert for the birthday guests.

Excellent food, wonderful ambiance and a professional, yet fun staff. Each member of our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed their dishes - my salmon was cooked to perfection, and another friend’s said her steak carpaccio was to “die for”. The room’s decor is Mediterranean inspired, with soft glowing wall sconces, giving the space a warm and inviting feel. A full bar is tucked away from the dining room, a perfect spot to grab a bite to eat and catch a game. On a warm day, sit at a table near the large, open windows and let the warm breeze envelop you as you enjoy an Aperol spritz, or sit outside at a handful of tables. Pasta, fish, pizza, steaks, salads and more, “Ti Piacere” is a great locals (or tourist) spot, with terrific food, ambiance and friendly staff - Jun, our waiter, was the best!

We had a delicious meal to celebrate our engagement. The hostess was kind and congratulated us, and we were seated at the bar as we had requested. The bartender was sweet and knowledgeable and gave us Prosecco to toast with.

The food quality at Octavia is very high. The chefs really know what they’re doing. We had a pre-fixe menu for Christmas Eve dinner and they accommodated dietary restrictions with advanced notice. They actually called a few days in advance of the reservation to confirm the dietary restrictions which was really nice. We had 9 courses I think and they were all delicious. My favorites were the soup and the pasta dishes. The service was also very good, the servers were very attending and accommodating. There was one dish I didn’t eat much of because it had radicchio in it which I don’t like, and our server offered to have the kitchen make me a replacement dish with a different lettuce instead. The only negative of Octavia is that it feels very cramped. The space is small and they squeeze in a lot of tables so you’re sitting basically on top of other diners and it’s a little awkward. Everything else was great though. I would definitely recommend Octavia as a good place for special occasions or bringing out of town visitors.
