Bar Chelou is a neo-bistro that is both a distillation of Chef Doug Rankin's broad gastronomic interests and a deeply personal expression of his individualistic style. 'Chelou' (French slang for ‘strange’ or ‘unexpected’) is both the name and unifying theme of the restaurant, which draws from a range of culinary traditions and service styles to create something personal, novel, and fun. The restaurant is located within the Pasadena Playhouse complex. If you plan to visit the Playhouse after dinner, please book a 5:30p reservation to ensure ample timing for your dinner.     Last night I had the pleasure of dining at Starleaf, what an unforgettable experience from start to finish! The food was amazing, the menu offered a variety of selections and the place is beautiful. Every single dish had impeccable presentation, quality ingredients and sooo delicious! My entire family enjoyed it very much! Our waiter Connor was so good, his service was beyond outstanding. He truly made my birthday dinner very special! Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all around can’t wait to go back!

    We went to Ruth’s Chris in Pasadena for our anniversary dinner. The staff was courteous and attentive, the food was excellent, and the entire experience was top notch. They made our anniversary feel special; they even customized the front page of the menu with our names and decorated our table with hearts. Truly outstanding experience, and looking forward to returning again soon!

    This experience lived up to expectations, which were high. For our golden wedding anniversary we wanted to have a special night. Alexander’s delivered exquisite food, service, and ambiance. The Chef’s Tasting proved the perfect order—no need for decision making, so we could focus on each other. And the dishes were phenomenal, each one better than the last. For an important occasion, Alexander’s can’t be beat.
