Since our early days as a tea room, we’ve been a respite for locals and visitors alike, offering a haven for conversation and memorable cuisine. The tradition continues as our culinary team has curated an inventive and elevated menu through New American cuisine while paying homage to the beloved dishes that have been served at the Tabard Inn for years. Executive Chef Matthew Zafrir came to the Tabard in 2023, bringing with him experience from various fine dining restaurants around D.C. such as minibar by José Andrés, Cranes, Revelers Hour, as well as Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, MD. He also shares the Tabard's longstanding commitment to sourcing ingredients locally. Join us for a meal on our covered patio or one of our intimate dining rooms. A social atmosphere fit for a president. Join us where vibrant cocktail culture meets fun elegance and comfort food at this Dupont Circle neighborhood favorite. It is said that while President Theodore Roosevelt loved to eat, to him the dinner table was less an occasion for fine dining than as a springboard for conversations. In keeping with this, we have created a stunning interior design for Teddy and the Bully Bar that keeps patrons talking. Reflecting Theodore Roosevelt’s love for simple American comfort food, including steaks, oysters, fried chicken and house-made cornbread, our seasonal menus feature a contemporary twist on classic comfort dishes with a focus on quality, local and simplicity. We pay special attention to sourcing from our local producers, representing President Roosevelt’s belief to “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” We offer an exciting happy hour, energetic bottomless brunch (Sundays), and a perfect match of social energy and food culture.

We had a wonderful time dining at The Palm restaurant in downtown Washington, D.C. , on Thanksgiving Day! This was our second year in a row and it did not disappoint. The traditional turkey dinner tasted like the best home cooked traditional turkey and dressing with cranberries and sweet potatoes! My nephew had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection! Dessert was excellent. Service was excellent and we even celebrated my birthday with complimentary ice cream! What a wonderful way to celebrate any holiday!

I love this restaurant and every single dish I’ve tried. I’ve been twice already and they always provide with the same quality and consistency. The cebiche cremoso is a must, the chaufa mixto is super tasty (abundant portion), the empanadas and yucas are great appetizers too. I’d drive from Columbus only to satisfied for my Peruvian cravings in P and N. Guatemalan server was super nice and kind. Thank you!

We had a GORGEOUS dinner with my in-laws the night before Thanksgiving. We've heard great things about Iron Gate, but truly everything from the service, to the items we ordered (and multiple little extras the chef sent out) were extraordinary. The chocolate dessert, we all agreed, was one of the best of our lives. Truly a hospitality-driven experience and we can't wait for an excuse to head back.

It's been many years since I've been to the Tabard Inn, so long ago that I was living in Dupont on Riggs Place. It was low key and funky and much smaller. The present version is very different but equally enjoyable. Larger, still good food, but more space and fewer distractions. A great place to meet for breakfast and escape from the bustling of one of Washington's friendliest circles.

We like exploring tapas restaurants since we don’t have one near us at home. My only concern was not seeing any listing under the “chef’s selection “ pre fixe menu. We still ordered it and enjoyed most of it, but we didn’t know everything we were served and had no idea what was coming next.
