Built in 1880, The Inn was at one time a brothel, until it was raided by federal officers. The Inn was a favorite site of cowboys and teamsters, who appreciated the fine foods and jovial atmosphere.Over 100 years later, the Inn at Tres Pinos is now a San Benito County Historical Landmark, carefully restored by owner, Mike Howard. We ordered a sampling of the grilled oysters. All oysters were teeny-tiny. There was more topping than meat. Flavors were okay, nothing special. The fried monterey rockfish was outstanding. Coating light and crispy. Fish moist and flaky. 3 pieces came with plate. We opted for salad instead of fries, which was nice and fresh.

This was our first time here. Will definitely be back. One menu item we wanted to try had been removed the day before unfortunately. The service was excellent. The cocktails were also. Two things we weren’t expecting was the abundance of goat cheese in multiple dishes. We are not fans and didn’t care for that. The other was how fast our entrees came out. We weren’t even able to finish our appetizers.
