Have loved La Tavola for over 20 years but this was not a great experience. They have crammed so many tables into an already tight space that it made for an uncomfortable and stressful dining experience. Our table was jammed into a space that wasn’t big enough for 4 and so tight that the people sitting at the bar couldn’t get out of their chairs without us getting up and letting them out. Same for the table next to us. I understand the need to make a profit but it’s coming at the expense of a pleasant dining experience for the customers. We asked to be moved to an empty booth and were told it was “claimed”. Disappointed to say the least.

We both had a Caesar salad that was delicious. I had the veal meatballs with polenta appetizer; it was perfect. My friend had pasta with mushrooms and truffles. Yummy, yummy. We both agreed we would get the same things again and again!

Food was delicious as usual, the atmosphere rings of a true New York Italian restaurant. The place is a gem. I wish there were more cozy italian restaurants like that in Atlanta, especially in Grant Park where I live.

La Tavola has always been one of our favorite dining spots for excellent service, delicious food and an extensive wine selection. On this visit, we did notice some selections were no longer available. We know they are always changing up some "seasonal" choices but the menu seemed to have gotten somewhat smaller. One of my favorite dishes, the Zuppa di Pesce had changed from a traditional broth based seafood dish to a thicker tomato sauce base recipe called Cacciucco. While good, it didn't have the same seasonings, flavor and appeal of what it replaced and how prepared in the past. I only mention this as one small change that, as before was one of my favorites and others may agree the original recipe followed more of the Italian tradition. Pasta at La Tavola is always spot on perfect and an easy selection.
