This is a remarkably fine warmhearted restaurant. From the moment of entry I knew we were in good hands. Greeted graciously, and soothed after the near-miss of our reservation due to a delayed flight, we never had the least sense of being rushed (or resented) for our late arrival as the last guests of the evening. In short, every person we came in contact with was both professional, well trained, and friendly. And the food was great. Mussels as an appetizer were just a treat. The crispy baguette sopped some of the best broth I’ve had- and I’m a mussel lover who eats them a lot. These were good. My wife’s Dover Sole was, she said, the best she had ever eaten. Buttery, but mildly so, and wonderfully flavorful. The Fricassee du Pecheur was so good that I was reluctant to push it away without spooning mouthful after mouthful of the savory broth- until I could do so no more. And the dessert, Tart au Pommes, with a scoop of really creamy vanilla ice cream dribbled with just enough caramel sauce, was the perfect ending to a truly memorable meal. And a thank you to our waiter, whose name I did not know- he’s from El Salvador- for such great and enjoyable service. Okay, it’s a rave review. We love this place. So sue me.

La Chaumiere was excellent and typical, but perfectly prepared French cuisine. The waitstaff were authentic and very efficient. Only downside is the restaurant is extremely crowded with too many tables shoved together and the noise level prevents much conversation. Not sure how the fire marshal allows this many patrons at one time.

I went to La Chaumière with my wife for my birthday dinner. We both had a three-course meal. The food was very good and plentiful, from the sweetbreads to the trout. We also had a glass of rose sparkling wine. My only disappointment is that the restaurant did not do anything, knowing if was my birthday. They could have least put a candle on my souffle, or even given us an extra glass of sparkling wine for free.
