After work crowd busier near the bar area, than in the actual seated dining area. Food was served in a timely manner. Service staff was efficient.

                                                                                                                                I know this place is an institution and had it on my list of restaurants to try for a while. The restaurant is starting to show its age and could use a refresh, but the decor is still nice. The food was all over the place. The Catfish bites appetizer was the best thing on the menu....a must try. My wife got the fried chicken and both pieces were pretty dry. I had the chicken fried steak and the mashed potatoes and jalapeño corn were the two sides. The chicken fried steak was fried well but both of the sides were room temperature. IT is almost like the sides were put on the plate and then sat there while the chicken fried steak cooked. My son had the gumbo and once again the food was warm when it should have been served hot. keep in mind, we visited on a Thursday night so they were kinda busy, but not full on busy. Our waiter, a tall African American man with glasses was absolutely outstanding. This restaurant charges every party a 20% gratuity and it had no impact on the service. Honestly, he was honestly one of the best waiters I have had in a long time.

                                                                                                                                Enjoyed a wonderful jazz brunch this afternoon. There was good variety of food. I especially enjoyed the made to order omelet, Caesar salad,, the mimosa and fresh fruit. I’m still full 3 hours later. The musicians were excellent and truly added to the ambience. I will certainly return.
