The former owners of the Venezia Bar & Grill and Café Venezia, Benito and Hilda Gamba, have combined their efforts into the Gamba Ristorante. Located in Merrillville, this restaurant is housed in an architectural masterpiece, which is hard to miss with its circular design and copper roof. Modeled after upscale restaurants in exotic European locations, the menu offers classic Italian cuisine. The wine room boasts storage space for 1,000 bottles. A banquet hall holds up to 175 people and looks out onto an open courtyard.

    The food was fantastic, the service much less so. Service was very slow but we did see that our waiter was also taking care of a small private party. Refills on drinks except for coffee and water were difficult to get. Had to look for waiter to get dinner bill and had to finally flag down someone else to take our payment so we could leave. Don’t know if the excellent food trumps the very slow and lackadaisical service.

    We had a table in the wine room. It was wonderful. The food was excellent, and the service was excellent. Couldn’t ask for a better evening.

    We had a great experience once again at Gamba! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and definitely helped us in deciding between all of the wonderful options on the menu. We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in town!

    As always, Gamba's never disappoints. Made the evening a delight with superior service, amazing food, and thoughtful remembrance of my wife's birthday. I have never had a bad meal at Gamba's and doubt I ever will. Compliments to the chef and the entire staff. Every aspect of the dining experience was professionally attended to. 5 STARS EVERY TIME.

    It’s a small venue, however the vibes are immaculate. The food is without a doubt the best in the region, on par and exceeding the majority of Chicago establishments. Adding to that, the quality has not changed in over a decade and I doubt it will, this is the most refined and elegant restaurant you will visit in NWI. Not to mention the staff are second to none.

    It’s my go to for a nice dinner with loved ones. The food is outstanding. I get something new on the menu each and every time and it’s always perfection. The wait staff is knowledgeable and kind and attentive. The price is amazing given the service and cuisine you receive. 10/10 would recommend
