Floriana offers authentic Italian recipes with handmade pastas in the most comfortable of environments. Located in DC's Dupont Circle neighborhood, in a historic brick stone row house that has been converted into a cozy restaurant, but hasn't given up the feel of coming over to someones home for dinner. Very good Italian menu with some original touches, like fried Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Winter risotto and duck pappardelle were satisfying, with ample portions. Cozy ambiance, but because the rooms are small, annoying loudmouths can be easily heard. There are only 3 desserts, so don’t expect much in that category.

Floriana offers a lot more than just "pasta" - although their pasta in excellent. They offer generous portions , good wine, and interesting cocktails. We weren't rushed at all and they let us sit and talk. The only drawbacks were related to the restaurant space. It's in a townhouse, so there isn't much room between and around the tables and the restrooms were up a steep flight of stairs, where there is another dining space. It would be hard for people with limited mobility to get into the restaurant and enjoy themselves.

The atmosphere and food were outstanding. Once it got busy our table got sort of forgotten. But overall I would recommend this restaurant! Especially if you tell them it’s a special occasion 😊
