Five Horses Tavern is conveniently located on Columbus Avenue in Boston's
historic South End, walking distance of the Orange Line, Back Bay Station,
Symphony Hall, Northeastern University, Boston Medical Center and
Prudential Center.

Our mission is to serve modern American comfort food, incorporating locally
sourced ingredients, with many vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
Our friendly staff will make a memorable experience whether you join us for
lunch, dinner or our highly acclaimed weekend brunch.

Our bar offers a wide variety of craft beers from around the world,
boasting 40 draft beers, 60 bottles, signature cocktails and a thoughtfully

I brought family and friends with me here visiting from out of town. Five horses used to be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I have noticed a pretty steady decline in this place since the pandemic. Prices higher, portions smaller, and food quality much lower. My chicken wrap was almost all kale and no chicken. The service was also somewhat poor with the server disappearing for long periods of time, forgetting ordered items, and generally being awkward/unfriendly. I do hope management takes this feedback to heart. As I mentioned earlier this place used to be so great and I’d love to see it come back around to its former glory.

Tavern was boomin' today with customers. Staff did a great job (seemed like a small staff for lunch). Food great as always and tap list was full!

Table was ready and well set…wait for food and time between courses seemed longer than needed given modest level of business and diners. Tater tots were excellent as were the s’mores hot cookies! Overall, would return again!

Sitting outside on a beautiful October day made it even better. Bar staff was a bit overwhelmed so drinks were slow to come out but everything was tasty.

The Rubens were delicious and we were lucky to get a table outside. The staff was so supportive in delivering our orders and getting us out in time for the theatre. Lovely people! Thank you.
