This was my first visit to Fior d'Italia. I was quite disappointed. I had looked at photos and felt the room layout was conducive to quiet dining. Not the case - I could barely hear my wife who was sitting next to me. There also appears to be some kind of electrical issue because the lighting was pulsing, which was very disconcerting. After reading a number of reviews I expected an older style Italian menu with deliciously prepared food. The menu met my expectations; however, the food did not. I ordered a classic old style dish - veal piccata. Instead of being a nice light lemon and caper sauce, it was very heavy-handed and disappointing. The dishes my wife and guest ate were old-fashioned pasta dishes which I believe they felt were reasonably good. Although I found the food mediocre, the service was good and management cooperative. Unfortunately, even if the food were delicious I wouldn't return because the noise level was just too high to enjoy the experience.

By far, this is the best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life. The lasagna and the cheesecake were to die for. You can tell that they truly care about the quality of the ingredients that go into their food. It was like stepping back in time, and I wish I could go back every day. Not only that, but the service was phenomenal. Everything was absolutely impeccable. There is nothing that was not up to par about this place. I cannot wait to come back.

We keep coming back because it is a terrific place on so many levels. The menu is full of delicious dishes and the service is perfectly timed and executed. We always feel welcome and completely at ease. One of San Francisco's most pleasant dining experiences.

Every time we visit San Francisco our first dinner is Fior. It visiting old friends. The level of service never changes from: excellent. The food is always brought to the table prepared perfectly and piping hot. In a city filled with great restaurants, Fior maintains a standard of excellence that is enviable for every other place in the area. See you in Summer!

Horrible service and they really don’t care. One hour later we had to ask for our food It then became clear - the order hadn’t even been placed. Lots of excuses and a promise of free dessert for us all, became one dessert with spoons to share. (Didn’t even want it anyway) Meal took 2.5 hours for basic steak and pasta. Caesar salad was lame, pasta was fine though nothing special, steak was good. So much great food in SF, skip this place.
