Terrific ...as always a great evening...food exceptional

We came early to experience "the Ojai pink moment" when the mountains turn pink just before the sun sets. It was so beautiful! Along with all those swaying, lighted lanterns in the old oak tree, roaring fires along the slope of the lawn firepits , twinkling lights everywhere & happy crowds... What a wonderful ambiance! We sat by a cozy fireplace indoors first to stay warm & enjoy champagne & nibbles while awaiting our table on The Oak terrace. When seated, we had the perfect view & our meal lived up to the rest of the experience. We shared two entrees that seemed perfect for the cold night. Perfectly braised diver Scallops with puree of Butternut Squash & Pappardelle with Duck & mixed Mushrooms. Our dessert was a lovely not too sweet Panna Cotta embellished with a few perfect berries & coulis. Afterwards, we stopped at a beautiful fireplace set into the walls along out pathway to the car for just a few more moments in order to savor the bright warmth of the fire, the dark skies full of sparkling stars & our great good fortune to be right there at that moment in time. I order Sea Bass. My date ordered the Salmon. Sea Bass was over cooked. Dry. Salmon was under cooked. Middle of fish was still sushi. Means chef does not know how to cook fish. It was only restaurant on water front with a reservation available at 07:00pm. It was nearly empty when we walked in. It is a beautiful location. Nice music playing on the Patio. Some of the best view on waterfront. Place should be packed. It is the food. Kitchen needs help.
