Best Restaurants with Great Beer in Ukrainian Village

I gave the food 4 stars, but that applies to the Rueben sandwiches. Three stars for my entree, the Schlachteplatte - Sauerkraut, smoked pork chop, chopped Bratwurst, Thuringer & Knockwurst with fingerling potatoes. Sounds like a lot of food, so split it with another person. The dinner plate was small. Piled with sauerkraut, but only 2 slices each of the sausages & the pork chop was the thickness of a slice of ham. Could not be thinner. And for $25, it wasn’t worth it. We also ordered a side of potato pancakes that tasted like hash browns. Our waiter was great! The Christmas decorations were beautiful and the ambiance was very cozy. Maybe other entrees are good, but if I go again, I’ll stick to one of the sandwiches.

The food was excellent- sticky rib and egg rolls apps, French onion soup and Caesar salad, filet flight, delmonico ribeye, gorgonzola crusted filet, ribs. Great cocktails, wine and beer selection was nice. Our server Darko was FANTASTIC!! He made great suggestions, was very attentive and personable. Shared the history of the weber grill which was interesting. Definitely will return and highly recommend!

Really delicious!! We will return when on our next Chicago trip!

We had eaten dinner at The Publican many times, but this was our first time having brunch. We shared sweet and savory dishes including the waffle, the shrimp and grits, and chicken schnitzel. All were delicious! A side of PBQ breakfast sausage was tasty, too. I highly recommend checking out this spot for brunch.

This is a fantastic happy hour or business dinner(they have a private room to rent) location. I would not recommend for a date location.
