Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. The Black Cat Café is owned and run by PALS, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Although every dime we make goes directly to the 600 homeless animals we save every year, we also know that our café succeeds because it is an awesome place to eat.     We had an excellent experience at Gauchos Prime. We had met the General Manager, Jair, around a month prior to our visit and expressed that one of us does not eat meat. He asked what that person wanted and when we said "plain pasta," he immediately offered to arrange that for us and showed us the beautiful salad bar and hot bar offerings which would well satisfy the non-meat eater. When we arrived at the Restaurant yesterday, Jair remembered our request and had a plain bowl of pasta brought to our table. Overall, the level of service, from Jair and the other members of the Gauchos Prime team, was superlative. Every staff member made our experience feel special, even though the place was full of patrons likely due, in part, to the Thanksgiving holiday. The food was wonderful, the meats and offerings plentiful and the experience was extremely memorable. We highly recommend Gauchos Prime and are already looking forward to our next visit. We are so grateful to have met Jair, who provided an extraordinary level of service and whose kindness and assistance is so appreciated by us. Thanks to everyone at Gauchos Prime for giving us a fun, tasty and great holiday meal.

    We were impressed with the Thanksgiving prix fixe meal. The food quantity and quality were very good. The service and atmosphere were also impressive. Only one negative was the food temperature. The soup and main meal were not warm. Everything else was so good it was easy to overlook that issue.

    On this return visit two of us had the same delicious combo, half an artichoke panini with a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The other person had a slice of quiche with an amazing strawberry salad, and we all had the excellent key lime pie for dessert. As a bonus, several cats were adopted while we were there!
