Entering the Saloon, a family owned restaurant since it opened in 1967 is a bit like stepping into Philadelphia's past. Dark oak paneling, shiny brass and authentic local antiques create a warm congenial and casual atmosphere. The choice of two comfortable dining rooms each with its own vintage bars make dining and conversation a relaxed and enjoyable experience. We shared 4 items: Meatballs- mixture of chicken & beef--lighter than air, very light tomato sauce Buratta-with peppers, tomatoes & fresh basil, a taste treat Lobster Ravioli-special-very light sauce on savory ravioli Veal Marsala- veal and vegetables in a fabulous, slightly sweet Marsala wine sauce The theme of the food is light; very flavorful but not too rich. Professional service, holiday decorations. A perfect Xmas eve dinner.

    We went on Christmas Eve for drinks at the bar with friends and then a 5 course prix fixe dinner for 2. Both experiences were fabulous. Quality bartender and the table service team was top notch: professionally urgent, menu advice, flexible to small adjustments, on top of clearing and packaging to go, no time holes in waiting for food or drinks, EXCELLENT FOOD. I am embarrassed I lived in Philly for 21 years before coming here. I have been missing out. Will definitely be back.
