- JJillSan Francisco Bay Area •3 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoWe ate dinner at The Hideout Kitchen on New Years Day for the first time and it was a lovely experience. We had the honey fried chicken which came with mashed potatoes and sauteed kale. Very yummy! There are very few restaurants in the East Bay with great fried chicken, and this is one of them. Not greasy, just crispy and so flavorful. Large portions. We skipped dessert but the choices looked delicious. Our server was fantastic but unfortunately I don’t have her name. Really impressed with her. The ambiance is relaxing and elegant with bookshelves holding old books and a vintage vibe. We will be back!More infoThe Hideout KitchenPrice: Moderate• American• Lafayette•4.6

The paella required at least 20 minutes to prepare so let the wait staff know or order it ahead of the rest. We barely noticed because we were with old friends catching up. But the manager came out and apologized and brought us a free appetizer and comped another round of drinks, so we were all good!More infoACRE Kitchen and BarPrice: Moderate• Mediterranean• Oakland•4.6
