Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Always happy with Black restaurants. Food was reliably excellent if not exceptional - we had blackened catfish and blackened shrimp. Service was attentive, congenial and responsive. Good value for increasingly expensive DC restaurant scene.

Was such a wonderful night. The restaurant was full but not so loud that you could not enjoy the conversation with your group. The food was outstanding. We could not stop talking about how cool it was that all of the ingredients came from the mid-Atlantic part of the USA. Service was wonderful. Cannot wait to go back again!

We had a party of 7, and the service was attentive, and the food delicious. 6 people had steaks, and 1 had the vegetarian option (portobello mushroom). The mushroom portions were a bit small compared to the steak, but that is the only area for improvement to mention. The steak, frites, salad, bread and wine were exceptional. We will definitely go back, to include for large party dinners. Thank you Medium Rare Bethesda!

One of the best meals of my life. Service, vibe, food, cocktail were all impeccable but in a completely not pretentious way. Every bite on the tasting menu was complex and flavorful, that left you considering and thinking after each bite. It was simply SO GOOD.

The branzino was excellent. I really like the unusual sides of falafel and cucumber salad. My order was taken promptly, but I had to wait a long time to get my check, perhaps because I was a solo diner.
