We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there).     Wonderful Sunday lunch my daughter and I like to go for Sunday lunch twice a month and have been looking around for good Sunday lunch restaurants and I saw a recommendation for this little pub about a 30 min drive away and we went this Sunday and it was truly amazing we had an excellent choice of starters bbq pork belly bites, amazing and a yummy butternut squash soup both of which were lovely and really filling, only downside was then we couldn’t eat all of our sharing board as we were too full. The Sharing board was amazing, we have eaten a large variety of Sunday lunches over the last 6 months finding new places for each visit in both central London and Havering and the surrounding areas including well known restaurants such as Blacklock and Hawksmore and I have to say this is by far the best Sharing Board I have ever eaten all the trimmings and a really unctuous gravy, truly lovely traditional Sunday lunch with a real family vibe to the Pub. Well worth a visit
