Having spent years supplying London’s top restaurants through their separate wine businesses, Joe Haynes and Benedict Butterworth have joined forces with Tom Hurst, who has worked at Brawn, The Marksman, Levan, and most recently as Head Chef at Lasdun, to launch the trio’s first restaurant together.Located in a Grade II listed building on Cloth Fair, Cloth Restaurant is part of a historic row of buildings in the City of London that survived the Great Fire of 1666. Down this atmospheric alley opposite St Bartholomew church, Cloth is taking over a double fronted corner site that’s beneath the former home of poet John Betjeman and next door to the two oldest residential buildings in London. Inside, low ceilings, wood floorboards with antique wall lights and artwork create a cosy, intimate atmosphere, while marble tables, long dark wood banquettes, antique crockery and cutlery will create the feel of a classic bistro.

Second visit and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious especially the home made focaccia, the scallop, nduja and Jerusalem artichoke starter and chocolate and salted caramel ice cream pudding. It’s not cheap unless you stick to the prix fixe menu but it’s a charming place, very atmospheric medieval building with good service.

A Feast for the Senses: A Review of Bacchanalia Bacchanalia is an extraordinary dining experience that transcends the ordinary. The ambiance is simply breathtaking, reminiscent of an art gallery. Oversized statues of Medusa and Pegasus, coupled with dramatic plasterwork cascading from the ceiling, create a truly unique and captivating atmosphere. The background music, expertly curated by a DJ, is subtle and sophisticated, allowing for easy conversation. The bar is perfectly illuminated for photo opportunities, and every detail of the restaurant's design is simply stunning. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. A welcoming doorman was followed by attentive staff who graciously accepted our coats and escorted us to our table. Throughout the evening, we were expertly attended to, ensuring every need was anticipated. The food was a masterpiece. The beet salad was a symphony of flavors, while the pan-seared short rib was cooked to perfection. And the dessert? The pan-fried cookie with ice cream was an absolute indulgence, gooey and delicious. The wine selection was extensive and impressive, with knowledgeable sommeliers providing invaluable guidance. Bacchanalia is more than just a restaurant; it's an unforgettable sensory experience.

The room we were in was pleasant and as there were only 2 tables of people having afternoon tea it was quiet in there, so easy to chat. The service was good - very pleasant people. The food and selection was good - nothing spectacular but all very tasty, and we were given boxes to take away anything we couldn't finish. The only thing that would mark it down for us was they we were not offered a top-up of tea. We would probably have been given it if we had asked, but other venues offer it without you having to ask.
