Fogo de Chao in Philadelphia is considered a healthy option due to its emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients. As one reviewer noted, they have an 'amazing variety' of dishes at their salad bar and the meats, served table-side, are consistently hot and good. Additionally, they offer a variety of meat options and a 'nice spread' at the salad bar. While they have some room for improvement on their hot sides, they offer a variety of seasonally fresh buffet options.

If you like high-quality meats, Fogo is the place to go. I recently hosted an office holiday party there (in the main dining area). Everyone loved the range of options at the superb salad bar, and the choice of meats (beef, lamb, pork, chicken), and the serving style is a lot of fun. Service was excellent -- there was never an empty water glass or an unmet need. The full service lunch price of $49 pp is worth every penny.

This restaurant is worth the hype; be sure to make weekend reservations way in advance (they are strict about them). The meals come as small plates, and the waiter kindly equated the first grouping of plates to being appetizers, the second grouping as main courses, and the third as sides. My husband and I ordered the carpaccio portabello mushrooms and the roasted golden beets to start. Perfectly presented and the right meld of flavors in each. For the next courses, one dish out did the next. Meat eaters will not be disappointed. We finished with a small scoop of cherry sorbet with balsamic vinegar; be sure to give it a try. We look forward to going again the next time we are in Philly.
