Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Amazing experience at King’s Arms Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg. We made reservations for dinner before the Grand Illumination. We were seated quickly in one of the quaint rooms and had attentive service. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. We enjoyed the fife and drums playing outside as well as two strolling artists who played in the different dining rooms. Once our meal was finished, we walked outside to enjoy the fireworks which were seen perfectly outside the restaurant! Although expensive, it was a special and lovely family holiday experience!!

The service is outstanding and the menu offers choices for everyone, including vegan diners. The menu was also seasonally directed, with many choices that were upgraded comfort foods. Even the burger options add something extra to make them a cut above. Try the potpie, burger or either salmon option.
