New York City restaurateurs Pietro and Kelly Molendini took over the classic St. James farmhouse turned restaurant. The former co-owners of Vite Vinosteria in Astoria, Queens, who had moved from the city to Centerport, spent the summer renovating the dining room to a modern, clean look with neutral tones and contemporary artwork from Pietro Molendini's native Rome. They also expanded the bar from about four to 11 seats.Pietro Molendini has spent 30 years in the food industry, with a decade of that at Cipriani and stints at both Bar Pitti and Da Silvano. Along the way, he met chef Fabian Garcia Manca, who eventually headed the kitchen at Vito Vinosteria and now joins the Molendini’s in St. James. Kelly Molendini said Manca and her husband scour the tristate area and beyond for ingredients.     Stella’s does not disappoint! We had our “usual” table in the front dining room. We brought friends and they loved it. My favorite is the stuffed veal chop, but this time I opted for the bass, stella style, and it was delicious. This was the first time I ordered dessert, and wow, loved the almond cake. We will be back!

    The ambiance at Mama Lombardis is lovely and conducive to eating in a fine restaurant. It's immaculate which is a big plus. Our server was very attentive, and a charming disposition. They go out of their way to make your dining experience pleasurable enough to return. You are served like you are the only guest.

    The food is always amazing here. The petit filet Oscar style was very good. The sweet potato casserole is so delicious, no other restaurant has anything that can compare! Dylan our server did a fantastic job, tending to our every need. He suggested the champagne toast which was a very romantic touch. The bread, which some restaurants charge for, was fresh and warm; they replenished it 3 times. Dylan wrapped our leftovers for us.
