The Durham Ox is a family owned traditional village Inn offering friendly and efficient service; showcasing the best of local produce in our menu, as well as stocking an extensive range of wines and cask ales. A favourite for afternoon tea for years but this one was exceptional and would highly recommend. The presentation was a wow and will guess there is a wizard in the pastry staff. Much appreciated as is a regular haunt for anniversary.

Our experience at the Refectory was outstanding. The ambience and overall feel of the restaurant was relaxing and chilled. The food was simply some of the best we have ever had (now I really understand what an explosion of flavours means when they say it on Masterchef). Prices I would say were mid to high but the food was worth every single penny. Staff were attentive without being overly so & myself and my husband will definitely return when we visit York again.

There were four of us and we had booked a table even though the pub wasn’t that busy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food arrived in a timely manner and portions were large. My husband and I did not enjoy our food, the beef patty of the hamburger had a smell that wasn’t very pleasant. The onion rings were delicious but heavy. Our adult kids though loved their lasagna and fish& chips. The hummus starter was a7/10. We all loved their lasagna music playing!!
