Best Seasonal Restaurants in Lewes

Pre dinner cocktails hit the spot! Dinner was fabulous as was the service and the staff in general (helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.) We were seated at a great table in the corner which was decorated for the season. It made a great backdrop for our photos! The owner was very friendly and actually chatted with my husband for a bit. All in all, 1776 is our favorite spot in Sussex County!

Phenomenal food and service. Stuffed rockfish special was out of this world, best food we’ve had in Lewes or Rehoboth by far. Great views of the harbor on a foggy night. Can’t wait to go back in the summer. My husband had the duck, which he loved. Appetizers (pate and raw oysters) were fabulous as well.

The hostess and service were excellent. We got to sit where we wanted -the oyster bar so my daughter who lives in Dallas could have a great oyster house experience. The food was great! Oysters presented and explained well, staff friendly and prompt service.

Always a five star dining experience at Heirloom!! Our favorite restaurant in Lewes for special occasions when family is in town. One of our own is an Executive Chef, and the other two who live in NYC are “foodies” and they always really enjoy our dinners at Heirloom!

I dined here for the Feast of the Seven Fishes: 6 seafood dishes plus dessert. Not all the dishes were successful, but I applaud the chef’s originality. IMO, the exceptional dishes were: 1. The first one, oysters with a champagne toast. What was exceptional was the hint of ginger. 2. My second favorite, the second one with thinly sliced raw baby octopus and white truffles with a blood orange vinaigrette. 3. My favorite, the sixth course, olive oil poached catfish with caviar. The catfish was so so so good! One It was pillowy soft and delicious. Its sweetness and richness was nicely offset by the arugula salad. 4. The seafood soup. Not overly rich and the mussels, cockles and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The less successful dishes for me were: 1. The fried baccalia and artichokes. I found the fish overcooked and way too salty. 2. The squid ink spaghettini. The pasta was bland and while the uni butter and chili emulsion were excellent, there wasn’t enough of them. Dessert was average. Not too sweet. My biggest complaint was the mousse which was too hard and thick. Service was excellent and I very much appreciated how each dish was described to us.
